Michael Gerken, Ph.D. received his Dipl. Chem. degree from the Gerhard Mercator Universitat in Duisburg, Germany and obtained his doctorate degree in inorganic chemistry from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, under the supervision of Prof. Gary J. Schrobilgen. After a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Southern California with Prof. Karl O. Christe he joined the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Lethbridge in Alberta, Canada in 2002, where he is currently a full Professor specialized in inorganic fluorine chemistry and the founding Director of the Canadian Centre for Research in Advanced Fluorine Technologies (C-CRAFT).
